One day strike
ITANAGAR, Apr 28: Responding to the call of All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), which declared nationwide bandh on May 10, Arunachal Pradesh Chemists & Druggists Association has decided to observe one day strike (Bandh) in all district headquarters of Arunachal Pradesh on same day.
In this proposed agitation programme, all the 7.5 lakh chemists in the country will observe one day bandh and hold morchas in all the state and district headquarters.
In New Delhi, the dharna will held be at Jantar Mantar on the same day and several chemists from neighbouring states and all over India will participate in this dharna.
The agitation has been declared against the unjustified Government policies and its impact on fraternity of medicine dealers engaged in its distribution.
World Malaria Day observed at Siyum
ITANAGAR, Apr 28: The Catholic Mission Siyum, along with the rest of the world, observed “World Malaria Day” with the theme “Invest in the future, defeat Malaria” at Siyum today.
Focusing on the theme, Dr. Sr. Susmitha, of the Divine Mercy Health Centre, explained to the public about aim and objective of World Malaria Day. She informed that world malaria day is celebrated each year to create awareness among masses about this killer disease. A proper awareness of the disease can minimize occurrence of malaria cases.
Later, she highlighted the preventive and curative methods of malaria through PowerPoint presentation.
Videos and animations on malaria and the spread of the disease were shown to create awareness among the public.
Later, as part of the awareness campaign, Fr. Siju Jose, Parish Priest, Catholic Mission, Siyum, distributed mosquito nets to each family.
Meeting to review law & order situation and poll preparation held
ANINI, Apr 28: Deputy Commissioner cum DEO Tamune Miso has convened a meeting on April 26 last in his official chamber to review law and order situation and other preparation connected to the ensuing Panchayat Election in the district.
On the occasion, Miso urged the officers to conduct regular inspection and patrolling around the clock in their respective jurisdiction to avoid any unpleasant/untoward incidents and also suggested to be more vigilant in the areas identified as sensitive and hypersensitive.
Miso also discussed in details about the availability and stationing of communications devices at important locations in every circles of the District.
DEO further urged all the HODs to strictly enforce all orders issued to contain law and order. During the meeting, the DEO held elaborate discussion about poll team movement, retrieval plan, magistrate duty plan besides reviewing of the security arrangements and other poll preparation of the district for conduction of free and fair polls.

Poll preparedness reviewed
ITANAGAR, Apr 28: Pige Ligu, who is presently holding the dual charge of Deputy Commissioner of both Capital Complex and Papum Pare, held a meeting to review the Municipality and Panchayat elections preparedness here today.
The DC and Special Observer SS Bedi updated the present scenario and the developments that have taken place till date concerning elections. Ligu asked the officers to work as a team for the successful conduct of the election.

Ever since Panchayati Raj system has been introduced in the state, it has become the cause for dividing people of the state. Instead of helping villagers in self governance, the Panchayat elections have deeply divided citizens of the state. Within a family, brothers and sisters have gone on to become the worst enemy owing to the election related incidents. Hatred grows so big that at times they bay for each other’s blood.
The recent death of one person namely Bengia Tamang at Koloriang because of the Panchayat election related violence is an eye opener and has shocked whole of the state. The incident has confirmed our worst fear. He became the victim of indecisiveness among leaders of ruling Congress party which issued ZPM ticket to two contenders at the same time. The political parties and politicians use Panchayat election to divide family members and villagers so that they continue to rule. The election offers the best chance to them to implement divide and rule policy in order to strengthen their kingdom.
Just few days before issuing of Congress party ticket, everywhere I could hear people talking about ticket, ticket and ticket! Yes all of them wanted Congress party ticket to fight election which made me to wonder what is the use of holding election, when everyone only wants the ticket of one particular party? There are general feelings that if you get Congress ticket your chances of winning increases. This situation raises serious question for all of us to ponder. How can a party ticket decide your faith during election? The leaders should be chosen on the basis of their vision and work done by them for the area.
The Panchayat system was introduced in Arunachal as early as in 1969, under the NEFA Panchayati Raj Regulation 1967. However system is total failure as member elected has virtually no power and it is the local MLAs who still run the show. The elected Panchayat leaders are totally dependent on local MLA for every little schemes and projects. The claim of local self governance is a myth as the Panchayat leaders has not been empowered. Other than those grass root leaders who share good rapport with MLAs, rest of the Panchayat leaders remain idle for the period of 5 years. Some of them even do not know their role, duties and rights. Only during assembly and parliament election, the Panchayat leaders feel empowered and are also seen to be active. The most saddening aspect is that Panchayat elections are fought on the basis of clan wise. The local MLAs and other leaders interested in fighting for assembly election extend support to the person who is member of clan which has sizeable population in the area. Many a times it happens that person from same clan who are relatives by blood are pitted against each other. In such situation, the family gets bitterly divided and the wound take long time to heal. The flow of money during Panchayat election is also very high. The involvement of huge amount of money during election destroys the basic fabric of governance. Panchayat Raj institution is considered to be first layer of governance. If there is so much corruption at grass root level, then how can we expect MLAs and MPs to be honest? Lack of power and deep rooted corruption has made Panchayat Raj institution toothless tiger in Arunachal. Observing the whole system, one is compelled to ask whether Panchayat Raj institution is a boon or bane for Arunachal.
ITANAGAR, Apr 28: A major accident was averted on Saturday night when fire brigade put out a fire that broke out in the Petrol pumping/vending machine at the only petrol pump of Khonsa at 9.15 pm.
The fire fighters reached the spot, which is about 2 km from fire station, within a minute after petrol pump staff alerted them about the fire, which was suspected to have been caused by electrical short circuit in the old pumping machine, Tirap SP Vikramjit Singh informed in a release. The pump machine was engulfed by hot flames which started to grow in intensity and size with every passing moment despite efforts of the onlookers and the petrol pump staff to douse the flames with mud and sand.
However, the fire was brought under control only after the fire fighting team swung into action and used CO2 and Foam based extinguishers.
Had there been any delay in the response of the fire department, there could have been a major explosion in the pump leading to extensive loss of life and property.

ITANAGAR, Apr 28: Former NESO Secretary General Gumjum Haider is currently attending the ‘Istanbul Summit 2013’—a conference of International Forum for Democracy and Peace (IFDP) in Istanbul, Turkey.
Most of the speakers attending the conference have advocated for raising awareness on human rights, strengthening democracy across the globe and enhancing justice for all human.
The first two days of the conference, which got underway on April 26, witnessed world
leaders, including academics, mayors, ministers and Member of Parliaments from 22
different countries speaking to raise awareness and fight against poverty and corruption.
They also stressed on gender equality and women’s empowerment, promoting coexistence,
supporting responsible free market economy and other international legal issue, informed

A success story of a fish farmer

During the same occasion, I came to know about a very progressive farmer of this state, who is none other than Tana Hari of Doimukh area. He is just about 40 plus, who is well experienced with politics as well as modern business but has chosen fish farming as his profession.
When the entire population of this state is busy with the ensuing panchayat election, some days back I made it a point to make a surprise visit at his fish farm which is located at Emchi under Doimukh area of Papum Pare district, where I came to know practically about his farm which amazed me because it is the first fish farm I have ever come across in the state that is being developed professionally with huge money investment of his own. He told me that he could understand well about the importance of fish farm and its outcome, therefore he decided to devote his time and money in the year 2009, and today he has opted it as his profession.
There are fish ponds at Emchi which is being managed and owned by the fishery department which is located nearby fish farm of Tana Hari but fish ponds owned and managed by Tana Hari are much bigger than the government fish farm and is also well managed. He has five fish or seed ponds whose areas are 50m X 20m size each where he rears small fishes or fingerlings for some months, thereafter he shifts small fishes to bigger size ponds, where it will grow bigger (almost 1kg weight) within six months. He has five big size ponds where around one lakh fishes are in growing stage.
Now, one can imagine what amount of money he will earn if these one lakh fishes are being brought to market with existing rate. Now, Hari is in the beginning stage to receive his earning from his golden ponds. However, he told me that he invested a lot of money to develop ponds from the paddy lands. Equally, he was visibly very happy because he is now in the stage of reaping benefit from his hard work and the personal endeavor that he has put in. He expressed his gratefulness to the department of fishery for the necessary guidance extended to him, also for some financial assistance that he received from the said department.
Besides the fish farm, he has carried out allied activities on the same location like goat rearing, sheep rearing, cattle rearing and poultry which is going to give him additional earning. And a farm house has already come up where few employees are already engaged by him who look after his ponds and his allied activities.
The most important factor is that his farm is located nearby Dikrong river. Stretch of land around 100 to 50 metres length is lying between his fish farm and Dikrong river where he is going to raise a holiday resort with traditional outlook with modern and angling facility to attract tourists. It will also serve as a picnic spot for local people who reside in Capital Complex. Moreover this road has motorable road connection, therefore one day it will become a hot spot for local picnic party as well as the tourist from abroad because it is a rare spot with the required infrastructure located on the river bank surrounded by fish ponds.
It is being developed by Tana Hari who is an exemplary in the state, and tomorrow
there should be more Tana Hari in various districts of this state so that fish farmers
will capture fish market of this state which in turn will help growth of rural economy
through self-
‘Better understanding holds key to happy married life’
ITANAGAR, Apr 28: ‘What God has united, let no man separate’, quoted Rev. Fr. Jomon SVD and Family Psychologist as he concluded the four days Charistmatic and Healing Family Retreat at Cathedral, Nyokum Lapang here today.
Addressing a mammoth gathering of couples, he said that the success of marriage depends on understanding between the husband and wife.
“...Men should also give time to their counterpart by sharing every little detail so as to grow together without feeling neglected by either of them. It is, therefore, very important that both male and female recognize each other and perform their duty as husband and wife and father and mother in society,” he said.
Talking on the Bible passage about curing of a Blind man, Fr. Jomon said that there are four types of blindness other than physical blindness. These are psychological, social and spiritual blindness. The forth type of blindness is the ‘Moral Blindness’. In this category, people try to blame each other and do not have the courage to shoulder responsibility of their wrong doing. There is a tendency that each husband and wife also tries to blame each other. This kind is due to pride and stubborn nature of human beings. By blaming others such person wants to prove righteous and more superior. In the long run of time such people will develop a hard negative character. He /she becomes blind to his/her own fault. He/she will be alone and life will become miserable for him/her.
More than fifty couples renewed their wedding vows amidst tears of joy and happiness. They once again promised to love one another in times of joy and sorrow throughout their life. Some of them said that it was wonderful experience and they all felt light and happy.

If I really want anything like that why should in a public place? I very much pay respect to our law and regulation and public servants/officers who work for public.

Then I requested him to give me my MBs and work order document etc. but he was not ready to give me, so in that situation I became so depressed and started reminding that I had sold my allotted residential land at Itanagar to pay the money which I had borrowed from others, but still more to pay. And I also worried about that how I will feed my family. Better to kill myself, so I poured petrol on own body and try to kill myself, not him.

Capital not safe for women
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I want to draw the attention of government of Arunachal Pradesh towards the increasing insecure atmosphere prevailing within Capital Complex. It so happened that 2 days ago I sent my sister to make some purchase of vegetable stuff at Ganga daily market around 5.30 pm. She came back to her destination Ganga Village around 6.30pm by Tempo. As usually we used to do so. But the moment she tried to get down, Tempo driver wearing mask attempted to molest her and hold her hand in absence of rest of the passengers. She was the only one passenger left to go to Ganga Village. But somehow she escaped from his clutches. It’s very obvious that by wearing mask he managed to unrevealed his identity and this episode has shaken all of us. The intention of driver was to deliberately attempt to molest and rape the girl. In fact this incident had shaken us very intensely. This is classic example of how women are being molested and harassed. Despite all assurance for safety of the women, the atmosphere of capital is not safe at all for women. The episode has not light up the plight of single women rather it has encourage us to fights against the such injustice. Perhaps many girls are being molested but they don't have guts to disclose it. I appeal to all the concerned police department and authority to beef up the sense of secureness among the citizens especially girl children since they are more fragile and becomes object of predation.

What kind of scrutiny was that?

Being a common public of Sangdupota Circle, under Papum Pare District, I would like
to express my view regarding scrutiny process which was conducted on 25th April 2013
at Circle Office (Sangdupota) for the upcoming Panchayat Raj Election-
Here, I observed the whole episode conducted by the concern officer as I entered the office being supporter of a candidate. The interesting thing was that contesting candidates who are even serving as govt, employee, bank defaulter’s and likewise went through scrutiny and was simply made qualified, stating that the higher authority has pass ordered not to disqualify them.
As per the norms of disqualification of candidate, I claimed for several times with valid reason showing valid proof and documents near the officer. The response was just excuses and they denied doing it.
So, in this regard, I would like to ask what kind of scrutiny was that.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my highest praise and encouragement to the Women wing of ABK (Adi Bane Kebang) Pasighat East Siang District unit headed by Smt. Aini Taloh, Smt. Nanom Jamoh and Smt. Opak Takuk Ering and their team for their selfless crusade against social evils prevailing in and around Pasighat.
Prior to their movement against alcohol, Ganja, tobacco and other life threatening addictives consumed and sold in the Pasighat township area, sometime we had to experience sleepless night due to disturbances caused by those street lovers and drunkards shouting and singing recklessly using dirty languages in every nook and corner of Pasighat. In some occasion, I was compelled to call the police for their immediate intervention but unfortunately my call turned unattended.
I must appreciate the courage of the women wing of ABK East Siang District Unit,
that they took up the case and launched a massive search operation and stopped the
selling of all these items, I salute you from the true core of my heart being a father
of three young boys. For this great achievement appreciation is only not enough for
you all. You really deserve a big recognition for your outstanding contribution for
the welfare of people from the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. Let us support them whole-
Everyone say that alcohol, Ganja, tobacco, Gutka all these things are bad and life threatening consumptions. But no one can take the lead to fight against it. Hats off to East Siang Women Wing of ABK, you really made us realized that you are the pioneers of social reform who is showing us the way to brighter future of our children. I wonder, how much you are concerned for your children, which has been manifested through your movement, I appeal to all individuals of Pasighat to render their helping hand as they are fighting for a common cause of every household rather than criticizing them. Put the culprit behind the bar and remove them from society so that coming generation is not going to be affected by these evil elements that force the young generation to do harmful addictions.
Social reform is a two way process in which there will always be law breakers as a class and reformers to check that evil as a reformist class. We should therefore stand up unitedly to fight against this evil as a part of social reform process in Pasighat.
Somebody has rightly said “"God is not present everywhere and therefore he made Mothers,” Only mothers can do this… Once again, HATS OFF to you all.

Let the election time pass peacefully
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to appraise the attention of my fellow youth of Arunachal Pradesh that the election time is sensitive time for youths as often youths become victim of physical violence. They are provoked by some wicked senior citizen to do physical violence for their own benefits. On the other hand the senior people who provoke the youths to do physical violence remain in the chair for all time. What the youths of state think about election? I don’t know, but according to me election is like a cricket match. Sometime one team becomes winner and other time the another team wins. Why should we the youth become “BALIKA BAKRA” during election time. I felt shock after getting the news of Koloriang incident where a person namely Bengia Tamang died owing to the conflict between two political groups. So, I would like to appeal my fellow youths of the state that let the election time pass peacefully.
